Christmas in Our Communities

Being the hands and feet of Jesus this Christmas!

Praise God for all the ideas submitted to bless our surrounding communities! Grants have been awarded, and we're praying for everyone as they move forward with their projects. We are so excited to be a part of this movement to advance the Kingdom of our Sent Savior in our local communities with our Trinity family.

Please be aware of a few things as you proceed:

  • Note cards are available to use while you serve during Christmas in Our Communities. Pick up a few at the green tent in the Atrium and write an encouraging note to those you serve.
  • Once you have completed your project, please send us any stories, videos, and photos that you have taken to let us know how it went to
  • Please try to have your projects completed by Friday, December 17, 2021.

What is Christmas in Our Communities?

Christmas in Our Communities is an opportunity to be on mission with Jesus in your neighborhoods and circles of influence. Trinity Church wants to partner with you as you love others in your communities.

We invite you to consider how God will lead you through the Christmas in Our Communities movement. We desire to see Trinity members and attenders spreading the love of Jesus throughout the Lansing area this Christmas season. This an opportunity for you along with your family, small group or friends to be on mission with Jesus, meeting practical needs and serving others in your communities. We encourage you to take time this week to pray and seek how the Lord wants you to participate in Christmas in Our Communities. Participate with the daily prayer prompts to help guide you as you pray through any ideas the Holy Spirit lays on your heart. If you need additional funds to complete your project, Trinity Church wants to help! Application for grants available November 1- 15Thank you for helping us bless our community as the Body of Christ this Christmas season!

Take time with God to seek His direction for your project

What are you passionate about?

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

Each and every one of us was uniquely created by God, we are His workmanship. Psalm 139 speaks of how God knows every hair on our heads and wove us together. It’s not just our physical bodies that are uniquely created by God; He has given each of us different passions. Spend time today asking the Holy Spirit to reveal what stirs your heart. Often a good way to identify your passions is by being aware of what elicits an emotional response when you experience it. Make a list of the people and causes that you are passionate about.

Take a prayer walk or drive.

Take 15-30 minutes to drive or walk around your neighborhood and community, observing any needs the Holy Spirit illuminates. The purpose of this time is to gain perspective while driving or walking with eyes and hearts wide open. What do you notice? Write down your ideas and observations.

Pray over your list.

Looking at your list from yesterday, what rises to the top? What are you still thinking about today? Do you see a place where you could serve or meet a need? Pray through the list and spend time listening to what the Holy Spirit reveals.

Who else can you serve alongside?

At this point, you may have identified a passion or felt need, a specific serving idea, or maybe your head is spinning with possibilities! Continue to spend time in prayer over what God is asking you to pursue this season. Post your passion or idea in the Trinity Facebook Group to see if others would like to join you! We are better together, and your post may inspire and encourage others.

Commit your idea to the Lord.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9

We can have the best ideas and plans, but without the power of God and His living Spirit, they will not flourish. Spend time today releasing your Christmas in our Communities idea back to God. Dedicate this season to Him.
